Description

This LP album "Partners" from Scherrie Payne and Susaye Greene-Brown is best categorized as funky soul. It's quite a decent piece of music. Although the album cover suggests 'sweet' music, the music is mostly rhythmic. Silvestri was involved with this album as a 29 year old arranger and guitar player during his CHiPs years. Alan arranged the rhythmic songs "Storybook Romance" and "Leaving Me Was The Best Thing You've Ever Done" and the more slow song "You've Been Good To Me" in a professional way. Unfortunately Alan's guitar work isn't very noticable on all the tracks.

Interesting is that there are a lot of musicians on this album that also played for Alan on various scores: Randy Waldman (synthesizer, piano), Gary Grant (trumpet, flugelhorn), Paulinho Da Costa (percussion), Abraham Laboriel (bass, The Mexican and the Jimmy Smith album Sit on It!) and of course Gene McDaniels (The Mack, Mystique and the Jimmy Smith album Sit on It!).
If you like a good piece of funky soul music and if you are a big Silvestri fan I would recommend trying to get this album from Silvestri's earliest years.
